Join fellow teachers for a week to learn how to help your students develop as writers. In these institutes, you'll learn how to use writing to aid learning and how to encourage both informal and formal writing in your classes. You'll learn more about writing processes and strategies for effective writing, and you'll share ideas and read and write together to build your own knowledge and skills that will benefit your students.
The CUWP will be sponsoring two one-week institutes this summer, both of which are open to any teachers (you do not need to be a CUWP fellow to attend). Teachers are invited to attend whichever they want. The scheduled dates are:
One-Week Institute, June 10-14 In this one-week CUWP workshop, designed for elementary grade teachhers, teachers will study and discuss effective teaching strategies to enhance student writing and learning. Participants will write, respond to writing, collaborate, and share with other professionals successful lesson ideas. Discover the writer within you while earning credits or professional development points. (Download a flyer with more information.)
Â
One-Week Institue, July 8-12 Teachers of all grade levels and subject areas will learn research-driven strategies to cultivate their students’ ability to write and think successfully, engage in peer review, foster clear thinking, and facilitate inquiry. (Download a flyer for more information.)
Educators will be given ideas and resources necessary to teach and model the writing process effectively in their classrooms.
The cost of each institute is $250 for re-licensure points or $300 for 3 university credits. Each institute will run daily (8:00am-4:00pm) and will be held in the Provo School District Professional Development Center.
