Write With Us!

The best teachers of writing are writers themselves.

This foundational premise of the National Writing Project is, at its heart, what draws us together into community as CUWP Fellows. We honor the writing lives and experiences that each of us bring into our community of teacher-writers and writer-teachers. And we hope to create opportunities to nurture and extend possibilities for writing within our community. Please join us in the following invitations to write together even after you’ve completed the Smmer Institute.

Walk and Write

Connect and reconnect with other CUWP Fellows as we carve out time for nourishing our own writing lives. You probably remember the Walk and Write as one of our favorite days together during Summer Institute; the good news is this tradition doesn’t stop after SI! Typically, we meet at a location in Utah County once in the fall and once in the spring, walking and writing together for about an hour. Often, folks will stay to enjoy dinner together at a local restaurant afterwards. Look for emails from cuwp@byu.edu to find out when the next event is!

Wednesday Scribbles

Join teachers and writers across the state for short, virtual “write and share” sessions. Begin with a shared Scribble Spark, write for 5-10 minutes, then share your writing (if you’d like). Brandon Merrill (CUWP, 2024) leads these virtual sessions every Wednesday, and you’re welcome to join whenever you can make it! Add yourself to the Wednesday Scribbles email list using the button below!
